Due to construction work, the following locations will be closed temporarily. Thank you for your patience as these measures are necessary to maintain public safety while Nassau County executes this important project.
Long Beach WPCP Spill
A spill was reported by the City of Long Beach to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on the morning of May 17, 2026. The impact of the spill can be seen in the local waterways and areas adjacent to the Long Beach Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP).
This spill is in no way related to the ongoing construction of the Long Beach Consolidation Project or the Bay Park Conveyance Project. The County of Nassau does not own or operate the Long Beach WPCP.
The purpose of the Long Beach Consolidation Project is to prevent similar incidents by eliminating the aging Long Beach WPCP and replacing that plant with fortified modern infrastructure that connects the City of Long Beach sewage system to the upgraded South Shore Water Reclamation Facility eliminating the risk of spills due to aging facilities.
